     Summer has been full ...

    IMGP3661   IMGP3784    IMGP4262 IMGP3713 IMGP3679

    - teaching art lessons - tutoring- trips with the youth group - family time - Bible class -

I feel like life is a series of breaking down and building up ...

    IMGP4179

as I spent time with people who believed differently than me at school- some of my presuppositions [things I've always believed] were challenged.

: it's scary to have the floor taken out from under you :

i feel like God takes me through challenging times to help me stand on Him ... and not on my own knowledge or resources.

this summer :: God's been reinforcing my confidence in Him and His word through (among other things) a theology class I've been taking at College of Biblical Studies~ I hope to use the things I've learned to talk to people in the fall:)

*help me Jesus ... for the times that will come when I can't see You clearly*

    :)

I just got back from a backpacking trip with my youth group in Colorado:) Some parts of it reminded me of climbing Hallet's Peak.

Kenzie's home for a few days after being on a mission trip to Zambia! It's good to have the whole family here:)

This verse has meant a lot to me recently:

::Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have- for He Himself has said 'I will never leave you nor forsake you' So we may boldy reply 'The Lord is my Helper, I shall not fear, what can man do to me?:: Heb. 13

Being at home this summer, it's easy for me to compare myself with other people my age- and feel like I'm "behind" or not where I want to be. But I'm finding that the more I focus on following Jesus where I'm at - contentment follows...

homework's picking up : school's winding down : thinking about the summer

    capics080.jpg

I get to hang out with this amazing couple (aka my parents:) all summer!!!

I'm revisiting the wonderful book "Practicing the Presence of God" (by Brother Lawrence) with Lindsey~

~Sunday night, God moved a girl's heart to gather together and pray for our school and for each other

~Monday night in the library, a lady from Thailand randomly asked me for help on her English paper. The next thing I knew, she was asking me what the Gospel means:) She's Buddhist- pray for Wandee...

    *wow

Recently, I'm learning that it's not enough to hold on to God in my intellect- I need to hold on to Him "in the Spirit". This means that even when knowledge falls short- and I question everything under the sun- I still need to hold on to Him. Holding on to Jesus Himself is different than holding on to knowledge/ideas/insights I have about Him.

"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ".
